"There's nothing you could say that could make me leave you." -Annie, Finnick and Annie
If there's one thing that totally broke my heart in The Hunger Games Series, besides Mockingjay's ending, it was totally Finnick Odair and Annie Cresta's relationship.
I wouldn't mention what happened in the series (because that would be a spoiler) but this couple, although their appearances in THG were really short, they were the ones who really made a mark on my heart.
I remember stumbling upon this fanmade webseries in a certain site before but I haven't had a chance to watch it. Then one day, I was looking for cool things to watch-- short films preferably (side note: please recommend me some short films/webseries and stufff!!). I found this series which had this plain title of just Finnick and Annie. It was made by MainStayPro on youtube.
I immediately checked it out and found out that it was a fanmade series about a little backstory of Annie and Finnick's love and childhood. Finnick and Annie's love story was only told in hints and pieces in the book, and being a big fan of their love story, this fanmade series, although not from the author, was a great treat for me. It told a story beyond the arena and I think this gave the characters a very human perspective. It's also great that even if this was just a fanfiction, it stayed true to the characters' natures.
The acting wasn't A++ but it was enough to make the feeling flow. The dialogue and the script was good too, a bit poetic but true to the character's personalities and experiences-- just the way you would want to hear Finnick and Annie interact.
If you're also a big fan of the two characters, either as a couple, or as victors/tributes, you should definitely check it out. It's heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. Check out the first episode in the video above.
